The Challenge: Strategic Transformation
To maintain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving global gaming market, I led a high-impact, 4-month rebranding program to transition Players Publishing into Global Gaming Insider. The objective was to shift the brand from a legacy identity to a modern, authoritative media powerhouse. This required a complete visual overhaul of the flagship publication and the strategic management of the brand’s prestigious international awards circuit.
Leadership & Global Management
As the Lead Designer, I oversaw the creative vision and the operational workflow for the design team. My role was defined by high-level project management and cross-functional leadership:
- Rebrand Execution: I designed the new Global Gaming Insider logo and established a comprehensive style guide to anchor the brand’s new global identity.
- Global Event Management: I directed the visual identity and design assets for the three annual flagship events: Global Gaming Awards EMEA, APAC, and Americas.
- Operational Excellence: I managed the design team’s production schedule, setting rigorous deadlines for the three regional awards cycles while simultaneously executing the 4-month rebranding rollout.
- Mentorship & Team Growth: I mentored junior designers, driving a measurable improvement in design quality and technical proficiency across the department.
- Strategic Collaboration: I acted as the primary creative link between editorial and sales teams, ensuring that all design concepts aligned with editorial themes and business revenue goals.
The Solution: A Unified Media Ecosystem
The project delivered a cohesive visual framework that scales across print, digital, and live events:
- Editorial Design: I led the redesign of the flagship magazine, creating dynamic, data-driven layouts that translate complex industry topics into engaging visual narratives.
- Advertising & Social Media: I developed a full suite of multi-channel assets—including high-conversion print advertisements and a social media design kit—to increase brand visibility and reader engagement.
- Award Graphics & Branding: For the EMEA, APAC, and Americas awards, I created premium collateral including digital winner badges, event signage, and promotional assets that reinforced the prestige of each ceremony.
Impact
The successful rollout of the Global Gaming Insider identity, coupled with the consistent, high-level execution of the regional awards, has solidified the company’s position as the leading voice in the gaming sector. The new visual strategy has resulted in a demonstrable increase in industry engagement and a unified brand presence that resonates across global markets.
